I got the morning shift!!! For those that didn't know I was going for a new shift for work, I applied to work at Helaman Halls again, the 6-11 am shift. I applied, not knowing that they had actually already offered it to someone else. So that was lame, cause I thought I had a really good chance of getting the position, seeing that I was working for them (though at a different location) and also worked at Helaman Halls last year. Well, the guy that was offered the shift quit and now it is mine! :) It is quite perfect for me. Now on MWF I'll be done in the early afternoon with work AND classes. Then, tons of homework of course, but still. It's sweeeeeet.
Also, I'm taking a Polynesian Dance class. So far, it's amazing! It is so much fun, I'm pretty sure I was meant to be as a Polynesian. It just fills my soul with joy. The music is great, and ah. It's just a blast. Love that class! I will try to get a video of me dancing the routines so I can stick it on here. Next family reunion, you should let me teach you all and we can hula around on the beach. Can't you imagine little Lisette and Lily hula dancing? :) So cute. And the boys doing the war dances? Haha, I doubt we're going to learn those actually (or that the kids will want to do it.) But either way, it's fun to imagine.
My guitar class is going to be easy to ace, which will be nice, but it's going to be a ton of work to actually learn. I feel like I could pick up how to play another wind instrument pretty easily; the skills needed to play the wind instruments are pretty much the same with all of them. Guitar, however, is a different story! I have trouble putting my fingers on the strings when I'm lookin' at it! It is basically impossible to switch quickly between the chords. It'll come with time and practice, like anything does, but it'll be hard. Hopefully by the end of the semester I'll be able to play something, and I can play when we go camping. :)
Besides that: roommates are great, my ward is fabulous, and the mountains are big and covered in snow. Basically, I love it out here. :)

I am so happy for you to get that schedule! Because you will always have evenings off and would always be free to hang out with people.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should aim to marry a Polynesian... :)
That's so awesome Mary! I'm glad you like your classes, and even more excited that you got that shift! I'm done early on Fridays too, we should hang out more this semester! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with the person above me...you totally should aim to marry a polynesian. They're all really tall and built aren't they?
Haha, I'll do my best.
